OUR DAY

A typical day at Turner Road Preschool

MORNING

At Turner Road Preschool Berowra we encourage long periods of uninterrupted play as well as an unhurried approach. We like children to have time to investigate, experiment and interact with their peers and educators.

ARRIVAL

Educators welcome children as they arrive, children help unpack their bag and farewell parents/caregivers in the foyer. Children wash hands and greet friends. Morning meeting as a whole group, this is a time for sharing and introducing new projects.

MID-MORNING

Progressive morning tea, indoor/outdoor play following children’s interest and educator’s intentional teaching. Research projects continued or started.

Interest based research projects, stories, songs, investigations with art materials, literacy and mathematical concepts, community and family involvement, nature discovery, sustainability practices and taking care of the environment. We also undertake regular walks within the local community in small groups.

AFTERNOON

Group discussion about morning discoveries and findings, lunch as a whole community, sharing and discussing our day and interests. Preparation for relaxation.

Yoga, relaxation and rest. 

Daily communication is written with children and emailed to parents in preparation for pick up and afternoon connections with families.

MID-AFTERNOON

Progressive afternoon fruit snack and indoor activities. Preparation for home and end of day.

DEPARTURE

Children meet parents/caregivers in the foyer. Educators farewell children at the gate.
