A typical day at Turner Road Preschool
Choice of indoor or outdoor play depending on your child’s interests and needs. Morning rituals; signing in, morning meeting, welcome to the day, acknowledgment to country and preparing morning tea.
Progressive morning tea, indoor/outdoor play continues following children’s interest and educator’s intentional teaching. Research projects continued or started following up from morning meeting. Once a week a small group of children and 2 educators venture down to the local bushland for morning tea and investigations.
Interest based research projects, stories, songs, investigations with art materials, literacy and mathematical concepts, community and family involvement, nature discovery, sustainability practices and taking care of the environment and preparing and baking the afternoon tea.
Group discussion about morning discoveries and findings, lunch as a whole community, sharing and discussing our day and interests. Preparation for relaxation.
Yoga, relaxation and rest. Indoor activities, afternoon snack preparation. This is a time for quiet activities for children that don’t need a sleep.
Progressive afternoon snack, indoor/outdoor play prepare for home time.
Extended day indoor or outdoor depending on children’s needs and interests, late snack and evening tea ritual. Reset and organise for next preschool day.
